H-Word Student Licence

Who this is between

  • H-Word is distributed by HEM'Z Digital, Chennai, India ("we"). "You" are the student who registered for a copy.

1. What you get

  • A personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install H-Word on up to two computers that you own or use, and to use it for your studies and your own documents, for 12 months from the day you registered (the "licence period").

2. What you agree to

  • You are a current student, and the details you gave when registering are true.
  • You will not share, upload, sell or otherwise pass on the installer or your activation, and you will not let anyone else use your licence.
  • You will not remove or change licence or copyright notices in H-Word.
  • You will not use H-Word to break the law or to infringe someone else's rights.

3. Activation and licence checks

  • H-Word is linked to your licence once, on the H-Word website, using the email you registered with. After that, when H-Word starts it asks our server whether your licence is still valid. It sends a random installation ID and the version number, and nothing about your documents.
  • If your computer is offline, H-Word keeps working for up to 30 days from the last successful check.

4. When the licence ends

  • It ends automatically when the licence period ends. We may offer a renewal, but we are not obliged to.
  • We may suspend or revoke it at any time, for example if you break these terms or if we withdraw the free offer. Where we can, we will tell you by email at the address you registered.
  • When it ends or is revoked, stop using H-Word and uninstall it. H-Word may stop opening.
  • Your documents remain yours. They are ordinary .docx files that you can open in other programs, and we never hold copies of them.

5. Open-source and third-party components

  • H-Word includes software written by others, licensed under their own licences (including the Apache License 2.0). Their copyright notices and licences are in the NOTICE and THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt files installed with H-Word. Nothing in this licence limits the rights those licences give you for those components.

6. No warranty

  • H-Word is provided "as is", without warranty. Keep backups of your documents. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for lost data or for indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in this licence excludes liability that cannot lawfully be excluded.

7. Governing law and contact

  • These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of Chennai have jurisdiction.
